Ughelli North Boss Inaugurates ENVIRUMEDIC New Board of Directors, Ellu Monarch Emerges Chairman
UGHELLI/Nigeria: The new Board of Directors for Envirumental and Rural Mediation (ENVIRUMEDIC), has been inaugurated by the Executive Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Area, Hon. Godwin Adode. The six (6) member Board has the monarch of Ellu kingdom, HRM, Murphy Othuke Urugbezi, Ogwara I, JP as Chairman while the monarch of Arhavwarien kingdom, HRM, Solomon Okukeren III, occupies the position of Vice Chairman.
The Ughelli North Chairman was ably represented at the occasion by the Secretary to the local government, Hon. (Barr.) Etinagbedia Goodluck who performed the inauguration ritual. He charged the Board members to bring their wealth of experience to bear on the humanitarian task they have been commissioned to perform.
The occasion took place on Tuesday, 10th July, 2018, at Jabin Olori hotel, Ughelli.
Other members of the Board are: Chief Ogheneruona Monday Itoghor, Director/CEO; Mr. Francis Esemuede; Mrs. Helen Itoghor; and Barr. (Mrs.) Ogheneruona Robinson.
The Board will oversee the activities of the organisation to ensure it achieves people oriented programmes and projects targeted at eradicating poverty, protecting human rights, and creating an enabling society where people will live a life of dignity.
In his speech, the Chairman of the Board, HRM, Murphy Othuke Urugbezi described his appointment as a great honour, saying “it is an opportunity and avenue for us (Board members) to contribute our quota to the development of the society through humanitarian services.”
In his earlier speech, the Chief Executive Officer of ENVIROMEDIC, Chief Monday Itoghor said the appointment of the Board members was in compliance with the operational guidelines of the organisation in sync with international regulations for non governmental organisations. Saying, “we deem it necessary after many years in operation to constitute a new Board to run the day to day activities of the organisation.” Continuing, Chief Itoghor said that the Board members were nominated through a tedious process of verification based on transparent criteria.
“Through a tortuous verification process, we arrived at the names of these personalities appointed into ENVIROMEDIC Board, of which, the monarch of Ellu kingdom, HRM, Murphy Othuke Urugbezi, Ogwara I, JP, emerged as Chairman.” Recognising the role of local government council in human development, Chief Itoghor said, “we invited the Chairman of Ughelli North local government area, Hon. Godwin Adode, to perform the formal inauguration, in recognition of the Council’s role in development of humanity and society in recent times. It is an honour to have him perform this important function.”
He said to the Board members, “It is an honour to have you (Board members) steer the progress of this organisation to greater height.”
The appointment of the monarch of Ellu kingdom as the Board chairman of the 18-year-old non governmental organisation, ENVIRUMEDIC, is the first by the organisation to have a traditional ruler chair its Board.
The occasion attracted government functionaries, Chief Executive Officers, and representatives of non governmental organisations in Delta state which include, Pastor Edewor Egedegbe, CEO, Value Rebirth and Empowerment Initiative (VREI); Comrade Emeka Nwokocha, The Healthy Real For Valued Enterpreneurship (THrive); Mrs. Joy Tobele, Initiative for Peace and Stability (IPAS); Nefertiti Ayo Okotie, Neferok Development Initiative (NDI) and other eminent personalities.
