Public Financing Of Agriculture (PFA)

Public Financing of Agriculture (PFA) is a project geared towards strengthening the capacity of farmer federations and women’s organizations (both district-level organizations and national federations) to engage directly with government entities at the local, regional and national level with a view to publicizing government budgetary provisions, their levels and line items in current agricultural budgets, assessing effectiveness of the utilizations of such provisions, and advocating for allocations that are more targeted to the specific needs of smallholders and women farmers. This project is also supported by Action Aid. Under this project, ENVIRUMEDIC is working with the Smallholders Women Farmers Network (SHOWFAN) which is a conglomerate of Farmers Cooperative Societies in Delta State formed by ENVIRUMEDIC with support from ActionAid and Delta State Ministry of Agriculture.
The Network has about 2100 registered cooperative societies. These groups has been empowered with the Nigerian Agricultural Enterprise Curriculum – Fish Farmers Producers, Aquaculture Value Chain; Micro Enterprise Fundamentals- An Integrated Approach to Income Generation, Household Nutrition and Homestead Farming; Ecostove production for cooking, frying garri and fish drying, and; Sustainable Agricultural Practices (Rights to Food & Agriculture).
